Wendell James, a San Francisco native and one of six brothers, founded his nonprofit after being wrongly incarcerated for 27 years. While in prison, he created an interfaith program focused on life skills, cognitive change, and personal growth. Upon release in 2015, he launched a reentry model offering transitional housing, job training, parenting and coping skills, and support groups. Wendell also founded Learning to "LIVE" Blind (LTLB) to support individuals transitioning to low vision or blindness. He hosts The Wendell El-Amin James Show, where he interviews returning citizens about their reentry journeys.
